michiyo BIO:

At the age of 12, she joined a brass band and fell in love with tenor saxophone at first sight. michiyo studied under Mr. Yoshiyuki Hattori, an instructor at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.　She has participated in many contests and won many awards for her classical saxophone quartetto.

After graduating from Nagoya YAMAHA music academy, michiyo started to teach electone and piano as an instructor at YAMAHA, but quit after one year because her passion for saxophone was too strong. michiyo then moved from Nagoya to Tokyo to pursue saxophone as a full-fledged career.

While learning jazz performance and theory, she began performing live in Shibuya with Grover Washington Jr. cover songs and her own original compositions. Joined the band 'Dad mom god' with members of Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Shinji Takeda, Silver, etc., and participated in club gigs and recordings.

1996 Guest appearance on TV Tokyo's "Tamori's Music is the World" with Dulfer {candy dulfer's father}.
michiyo has toured and recorded with many of Japan's leading singers, including Hiromi Go, Ken Hirai, Mitsuhiro Oikawa, Kiyotaka Sugiyama, and Mai Kuraki and many others.
